Easter Eggs and Herdwick Sheep
There is a lot going on this month with many events being planned for Easter. It is a great time to visit the Lake District with the family and start to enjoy the lengthening spring days. As well as the continuing celebrations for the 150 years of Beatrix Potters’ birth there are Easter egg hunts galore – enough for the most dedicated chocoholic.
This year we also await an Easter invasion of Herdwick sheep. These are not the usual natives of the fells but fibreglass models decorated by artists which are going to be popping up in surprising places all through the spring and summer culminating in an auction for charity in the autumn.
Follow the trail organised by Go Herdwick and see if you can get some selfies with a Herdwick set in stunning scenery. Maybe it will start a new trend, Herdelfie anyone?
As well as events for children there are plans for live blues music on the shores of Windermere and the chance to sample different brews at the Hawkshead beer festival.
Of course, the amazing lakes and fells are ever present and tempting you to outdoor pursuits. Whatever you choose to do we have some fantastic properties available to suit all sizes of party right in the heart of the Lake District. Our cottages in Grasmere and Ambleside are perfect for the Go Herdwick trail, or stay on a working farm for the real thing and chance to see lambs up close.
