Property Description
The Old Sawpit was above the original saw pit, which is now Jontys, and was where the cartwheels were made by the Elterwater Wheelwrights. Its been a home or holiday flat since the late 1880's, originally let by my parents as their first holiday cottage.
Its the upper floor of a traditional stone built Lakeland property, and has long been a favourite for familys and couples who enjoy long walks, followed by evenings with a glass of wine in front of the log burning stove. On sunny days the front steps make a great place to sit and read the morning paper (or browse the internet with the free wifi) or simply watch the world go by.
Situated on the eastern edge of Elterwater village, the location is perfect for walks around the surrounding Langdale valley, while the Britannia Inn will keep you well fed and watered. If a little more exercise is called for, try your skill on the village bowling green.
The Old Sawpit is accessed by traditional slate steps. The front door leads straight into the living/dining room with its feature log-burning stove. A hallway leads to a fitted kitchen with serving/gossip hatch through to the dining area, two bedrooms, one king size and one twin room and the bathroom with bath and separate shower situated at the rear of the building.

Comment: We all had a great time in The Old Sawpit - lovely cottage.
We did several long walks around Little Langdale, which tired us and the dogs out!!. Great meals at the Britannia Inn and at Wainwrights (Chapel Stile). We made good use of the swimming pool at Langdale (Estate) during the days of rain, it brightened up after a few days though. Tom & Louise got engaged whilst here this time - great holiday to be remembered. We will be back in August.

Comment: Our 23rd year at Elterwater, obviously we enjoy it!. A personal greeting means a lot. Ian & Anne are back in Ben and Heather - God willing we'll be back next year.
