Things to Do * A Grand Day Out

Whilst many people come to the Lakes for the extensive walking opportunities, following the Wainwrights Trails etc. We thought we’d offer a few suggestions for a change of pace.

Zeffirellis Cinema: Voted best independent cinema in England. Zeffs has 5 screens showing both mainstream blockbusters & Art house foreign movies year round. Zeffs also boasts a very good vegetarian restaurant, which plays host to a regular Jazz night, which is not to be missed. Book a ‘meal deal’ and get the best cinema seats in the house! 015394 33845

Holehird Gardens: Leased by the Lakeland Horticultural society, the gardens are open to the public Year round. Kept entirely by volunteers (including my Mum) the gardens provide a beautiful setting to spend a quiet afternoon among the plants in any season. 015394 46008

Keswick Spa (Leisure Pool): Great for taking the kids on a day off from walking, Keswick Spa has a gently sloping pool and slide to keep you entertained. A small café serves refreshments as well. Bikes can be hired outside for a cycle down the old railway; it’s also a lovely place to walk. 017687 72760

Hayes Garden World: For those with green fingers a visit to Hayes may be expensive, trading for over 150 years, Hayes can provide for all your gardening needs. It also has a super café overlooking the whole site with views towards the Lake and Loughrigg.
