Property Inspections

All of The Good Life Cottage Company Cottages are graded by the Tourist board or VisitBritain. This means an official Quality Assessor has visited the accommodation and given it an independent and trustworthy assessment. Inspected properties receive a ‘star’ grading alongside each property description between 1 - 5 stars. The number of stars gives you an indication of accommodation standard, cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service and food. Generally, the more stars the higher the level of quality.

What do the different ratings mean?

1 Star
Properties offer a basic level of accommodation with minimum acceptable quality.

2 Stars
Indicates a good overall level of quality - practical and functional furnishings and décor with a reasonable degree of comfort.

3 Stars
Good to very good overall level of quality throughout with a good degree of comfort and attention to detail and co-ordination.

4 Stars
Excellent overall quality throughout. Very good attention to detail and co-ordination. Automatic washing machine and dryer on site in addition to other equipment as listed.

5 Stars
Exceptional quality in all respects. High level of décor, fixtures and fittings. Excellent range of accessories and personal touches and full complement of major equipment including video and freezer.

What’s Provided
We try to provide just about everything you should need. Towels are included so no need to bring those, all the beds are made up ready for you, two tea towels will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to ‘start you off’; you will need to buy your own once these have run out.

Pets

Dogs
Dogs are welcome in the majority of our cottages, although we do charge £5 per dog per week. Please do not leave pets unsupervised in our cottages, they are in an unfamiliar place and if they fret whilst you are away they can cause damage. Don’t let them sit on any furniture / beds etc. It’s a good idea to bring a basket or blanket for them to sleep on. Any extra cleaning required due to pets (including the garden), will be charged for.
