What’s provided?

We try to provide just about everything you should need. Two tea towels will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products and a few dishwasher tabs if the property you are staying in has a dishwasher. This is just to ‘start you off’; you will need to buy your own once these have run out. Please see the full cottage inventory for further information. We are in the process of changing to Eco and Fair Trade products as much as possible.

Are towels and linen provided?

Towels and linen are included in the price you pay. All beds in your property will be made up ready along with 1 hand and 1 bath towel per person. At the Good Life Cottage Co we feel quite strongly about the environment and recycling. Therefore we’d like to ask guests to help us in not wasting energy, by putting all their used towels into the bath or shower before departure. This means only towels that are dirty will get washed!! Likewise, if you haven’t used all the bedrooms, we would very much appreciate it if you could let us know on your ‘Comments form’.

Can we bring our dog?

Dogs are welcome in the majority of our cottages, although we do charge £5 per dog per week. Please do not leave pets unsupervised in our cottages, they are in an unfamiliar place and if they fret whilst you are away they can cause damage. Don’t let them sit on any furniture / beds etc. It’s a good idea to bring a basket or blanket for them to sleep on. Any extra cleaning required due to pets (including the garden), will be charged for.

What do I need to bring?

Cot bedding (if required) Dog bed and or blankets to cover the floor where they will sleep.

Is Holiday Cancellation Insurance Compulsory?

We are unable to offer our own Cancellation Insurance as we are now regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority). Details of a Cancellation Insurance Policy you can take out independently will be sent with your receipt. This is offered by J.L. Morris LTD.

Are heating / fuel / electric charges included?

In the majority of cottages heating and electric are not included, there are a couple of exceptions to this though. After a lot of consideration we decided that energy would be charged for by meter reading or daily charge. This is payable on the day of departure. We understand that this is slightly more inconvenient, but we are more than happy to help if you have any difficulties. Update: In 2010 fuel/electric will be included with the tariff.

Are coal and logs provided?

During the winter season, we put a bucket of coal and logs in the property ready for your arrival, once this has been used you can purchase further buckets from ourselves or you can buy your own supplies locally. During the summer, if you would like to light the fire you can purchase coal/logs locally.

Do we have to pay for cleaning?

No, your cottage is cleaned in between each let by ‘Burnside Cleaning Co’, this is included in the rental. We ask guests to leave a cottage as they find it though, with empty bins and clean pots. We would also ask you to put used towels into the bath or shower base.

What happens if we can’t get something to work?

A full information pack with user instructions is in each property, but if you can’t get something to work we are happy to assist you. Please call the office during open hours if at all possible, although we are on call 24/7 in an emergency.

Can we order food?
